What makes a top employer in 2022? Innovative animal welfare specialist from Rhineland-Palatinate named ‘Top-Arbeitgeber Mittelstand 2022’

In times dominated by a shortage of skilled workers and the Great Resignation phenomenon, it is no easy job for a company to become – let alone remain – a top employer. But Dr. Eckel Animal Nutrition has managed it. For the fourth time in a row and much to the delight of its employees, the family business from Niederzissen has ranked among the top Mittelstand employers. The hidden champion from northern Rhineland-Palatinate has earned a worldwide reputation in its sector for its innovative feed additives for livestock and aquaculture. And this while always remaining true to its founding values of innovation, excellence and responsibility towards people, animals and the environment. News of the renewed award was greeted with pride and great joy at the company.

Founder and CEO Dr Antje Eckel and COO Guido Grassi thanked the entire team for their great effort and commitment, especially in view of the past couple of years under pandemic conditions, which were particularly challenging for the internationally operating company.

“To be a successful family-run Mittelstand company in a market with global players in such times is only possible when you have a great team,” states Antje Eckel. “High professionals from all over the world, from the Eifel to Africa and South America, feel at home here and complement our team with their own personal strengths, generating the energy and innovativeness to create successful and sustainable solutions for our customers through our ideas and products.”

For the purpose of the award, Focus Business in collaboration with research institute Factfield analyses more than half a million employee evaluations and online reviews of almost 40,000 companies to identify the best employers in the German Mittelstand. It is therefore employees’ own assessments of their employer that determine who gets the award. Employers with the highest scores make it into the ranking. This year, almost 4,000 companies in 40 different sectors received the Focus Business award.
