Leadership transition at Dr. Eckel: Time for change, time for something new
The family’s future roles
- Dr Viktor Eckel will take responsibility for product development, production and central business functions as Chief Executive Officer from 2027.
- Klara Eckel will lead international sales as Chief Commercial Officer.
- Theo Eckel has been responsible for strategic purchasing since spring 2026 as he prepares for further leadership responsibilities.
- Antje and Bernhard Eckel will step back from day-to-day operations while continuing to offer the next generation their advice and experience.
Passing the baton
Antje Eckel has spent 32 years building and shaping Dr. Eckel. At the end of 2026, she and her husband Bernhard will step back from day-to-day operations at the family business in Niederzissen. Viktor and Klara Eckel will take the helm in 2027, completing the handover from the founding generation to the next at one of the leading manufacturers of feed additives.
This is a step that has been years in the making. The family has given Viktor and Klara time to grow into their roles, gain experience of their own and take on responsibility. Soon, the final decision will rest with them. Alongside the excitement, there are naturally a few nerves.
Different paths, a shared future
Viktor and Klara both began considering a future in the family business during their education and training. They each took a different route to get there.
Viktor studied biochemistry and, after completing his doctorate, initially headed Marketing and E-Learning at Dr. Eckel. He has been a member of the management team since 2024, with responsibilities including the further development of our phytogenic portfolio. As Chief Executive Officer, Viktor Eckel will take responsibility for product development, production and central business functions.
Klara trained as a feed miller and worked at various companies in Germany and abroad. She took over as Head of Production at Dr. Eckel in 2019, later developed new business areas and most recently took on regional sales leadership for Asia. She understands both the production process and the questions and requirements of our international customers and partners. As Chief Commercial Officer, she will lead international sales.
Their youngest brother, Theo, has also worked for the company for several years. Since spring 2026, he has been responsible for strategic purchasing. This role is preparing him for future leadership responsibilities while allowing him to help shape the company’s development.
Their parents’ advice remains close at hand
Antje and Bernhard always wanted their children to choose their own career paths. They are all the more delighted that they have chosen to carry the family business forward.
Stepping back from day-to-day operations does not mean taking their knowledge and experience with them. Viktor and Klara will still be able to turn to their parents for advice. That was particularly important to the siblings as they prepared for the handover. Responsibility will pass to them, but the conversations will continue. And the next generation will have the space to take Dr. Eckel forward in their own way.
