‘Feed for Food: transparent, digital, secure’ was the theme of the Deutscher Verband Tiernahrung e. V. (the German feed industry association; DVT) annual conference in Berlin this year. Dr. Eckel co-sponsored the annual meeting, which is a major event for the German feed industry.
The opening address by DVT President Jan Lahde was followed by a series of debates on the challenges of digitisation, the opportunities of smart farming and the need for more transparency and sustainability in the supply chain.
The evening programme included a reception and subsequent dinner in the ballroom of the Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof hotel, where the 2019 DVT Award was presented to Prof. Dr. Hubert Spiekers in recognition of his extraordinary expertise and commitment. The general meeting and lunch brought the conference to a conclusion the next day. Dr. Eckel would like to thank the organisers for the successful and productive event in Berlin.
